Not only are we entering a new month with this week’s curated weekly post, but we are also entering into a new season as well. For us here in the northern hemisphere autumn is right around the corner and it is truly my favorite season of the year. There is so much to look forward to including new movies, art exhibits, cozy sweaters, colorful leaves, thanksgiving, and a general sense of cozying in at home. I have couple of trips planned for this upcoming season and cannot wait to share those with you here on the blog as well. I will be traveling to New York at the end of the month and am looking forward to these views again (pictured below). As we start to transition into a new season, I wanted to highlight some seasonal offerings for this upcoming month. So cozy in and let’s explore some shopping, media and articles to start the first month of autumn.
SHOPPING, BOOKS, MEDIA, ETC.
If you are looking for a new coat for the cooler weather ahead and are unsure if you would like a gray coat or a black coat, then Banana Republic Factory has you covered. They have a reversible wool blend coat for $150 on their site and honestly, that is a great price as it’s really 2 coats in 1. I don’t think I have ever seen a wool coat that could be reversed like this to change its color, but I am on board with this kind of versatility.
Another good offering from Banana Republic Factory is this wrap midi sweater dress too. A classic piece for any transitional wardrobe, I love how a wrap dress can be worn in a professional setting or casual.
An easy way to incorporate the seasons into your home is with a scented candle and this year I picked up the harvest chestnut 5 wick candle from Target. With scent notes of Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, Birch, Vanilla and Clove, it has been made our home smell deliciously of autumn.
A good transition piece that I purchased recently in Navy is the signature knit polo tee from Madewell. This top had a nice weight and feel to it and they offer perfect colors such as maroon or olive. I also appreciate that this top can be dressed up for work or down for casual wear.
One thing I was on the hunt for in particular for the upcoming season was a pair of suede loafers. I looked at so many sites but was having a hard time trying to find what I wanted, but I finally found what I was looking for on DSW. I purchased these LifeStride Rivera Loafers in the color cognac. Loafers are an elegant autumn shoe that looks nice with casual outfits, especially with a pair of jeans and oversized sweater.
If you have a Nespresso machine, then you can now purchase the Pumpkin Spice Cake coffee pods that were recently released. This one is always a favorite in our house and we recently stocked up on several sleeves. This pod is described as a coffee with a wide range of spice notes such as cloves, cinnamon and cardamom, combined with a sweet pumpkin flavor to create this treat inspired by Pumpkin Spice Cake.
If you are a Gilmore Girls fan like I am then you too are probably anticipating the new release of The Third Gilmore Girl: A Memoir by Kelly Bishop being released on September 17th. The actress who played the grandmother in Gilmore Girls, Kelly was always a pleasure to watch, and her character was a complex one where you loved her on minute and disliked her the next. The book is described as, Bishop reflects on her remarkable life and looks towards the future with The Third Gilmore Girl. She shares some of her greatest stories and the life lessons she’s learned on her journey. From her early transition from dance to drama, to marrying young to a compulsive gambler, to the losses and achievements she experienced—among them marching for women’s rights and losing her second husband to cancer—Bishop offers a rich, genuine celebration of her life. Full of witty insights and featuring a special collection of personal and professional photographs, The Third Gilmore Girl is a warm, unapologetic, and spirited memoir from a woman who has left indelible impressions on her audiences for decades and has no plans on slowing down.
And because we can never get enough of France, released back on September 3rd was At Home in France Inspiration and Style in Town and Country. Sure to be full of beautiful inspiration and pictures that we adore from French design, this book is described as, in the first section of the book, Corrigan invites readers into his dazzling Paris apartment, walking them through the history of the building and his design plans, from the entryway through the salons, dining room, and bedrooms. In the second part, Corrigan shares his enduring love for French country homes. Traveling through his spectacular new château room by room, he tells the story of its purchase, restoration, and decoration. Layered throughout are insights and advice on topics ranging from antiquing in Paris, hanging art in the French style, hosting with panache, and exploring the French countryside.
If Diane Keaton is your fashion icon, and honetly….who is she not inspiring? Then the new release of her book, Fashion First is a must read. Diane Keaton is a woman of many inspirations, and her latest book delves into her fashion and style over the decades. Being released on September 3rd, this book is described as, since she could remember, Keaton has been fascinated by clothing and style. As a little girl, she would pick out patterns and request that her mother make her custom outfits. This was the beginning of a love affair with clothes and looks, and sometimes, fashion. From the outset of her acting career in the 1970s, the legendary star has experimented and thought outside the lines of what a Hollywood icon should wear and still became lauded as a style icon by Vogue, W, The Hollywood Reporter, and countless fashion websites. Keaton’s style is at once timeless, experimental, bold, effortless, androgynous, quirky, and utterly and distinctly her own.
There is almost nothing I find cozier than a bookshop. I love to visit bookshops whether they are chain stores, independent stores or used stores, so this book piqued my interest when I saw it recently. If you are looking to take a deeper dive into the institutions of bookstores then The Bookshop: A History of the American Bookstore may be one that you like. Described as, bookstores have always been unlike any other kind of store, shaping readers and writers, and influencing our tastes, thoughts, and politics. They nurture local communities while creating new ones of their own. Bookshops are powerful spaces, but they are also endangered ones. In The Bookshop, we see the stakes: what has been, and what might be lost. he Bookshop is a love letter to bookstores, a charming chronicle for anyone who cherishes these sanctuaries of literature, and essential reading to understand how these vital institutions have shaped American life—and why we still need them.
I usually like to watch home tours of “regular” homes, but this new Open Door segment with Jennifer Garner was such a fun and cozy viewing. She is genuinely excited to show her cozy home and you can feel her warm personality come through.
With the upcoming sequel of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (which I will be seeing this weekend), Vogue recently sat down with Winonna Ryder to break down 15 looks from Beetlejuice to Stranger Things.
An award-winning documentary currently on my list to watch is The Cowboy and the Queen. Described as, Monty Roberts, a California horse trainer nearing 90 and showing no signs of slowing down, recounts his life with horses, starting from his earliest days working in Hollywood westerns of the 1940s. Repelled by the accepted style of “breaking a horse’s spirit,” Roberts developed his own gentle approach to human interaction with horses in the hopes of someday transforming horse training standards worldwide. When his technique comes to the attention of Queen Elizabeth II, a friendship is sparked between the cowboy and the Queen that lasts until the end of her life, a friendship that inspires horse trainers around the world.
I am looking forward to the new season of The Simply Luxurious Kitchen with Shannon Ables on September 14th. This season promises some lovely French recipes, but also a few British ones too which will be perfect for the upcoming season.

If you are a fan of the elegant and chic India Hicks as I am, then look into this article on Town & Country, In Lady Pamela, India Hicks Tells the Remarkable Story of Her Mother. In her recent book about her mother, Lady Pamela: My Mother’s Extraordinary Years as Daughter to the Viceroy of India, Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen, and Wife of David Hick, India delves into her mother’s extraordinary life and adventures. Wonderful curated list. I miss wearing layers in the fall. It’s still hot in Florida right now.

Thank you, Tams 🙂 I understand that feeling as this is my first fall since moving back to North Carolina. Hopefully a cool-down is on the way for Florida soon and you can light those cozy fireplaces.
