We are officially halfway through the month of November, and we are currently in that cozy space of time where we are already dreaming about a sparkly Christmas, and yet also at the same time still enjoying all things pumpkins. I was so delighted when I bought our Christmas tree this past weekend that I went ahead and put it right up. Currently it is not decorated as I will be doing that next Friday while I am off from work, but I enjoy its soft glow so much that I simply did not want to wait any longer to put it up. I am also very much enjoying the sight of more and more holiday decorating around town too as I visit my favorite shops and neighborhoods. This time of November-December is my favorite time of year, and I am looking forward to all of the beautiful holiday setups, the cold mornings when I get to stay cozied in bed with a book and coffee, the early nights in at home in my soft pajamas and of course the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays. As we are cozying into this timeframe together, let’s enjoy some more inspiration to enhance the details of our everyday lives with another Curated Weekly.
SHOPPING, BOOKS, MEDIA, ETC.
If you are looking for something chic to wear out this holiday season for the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New year’s parties or even a just night out, then this asymmetrical blouse from Mango is a beautiful option to have on hand and is also decently priced at only $59.99.
A classic sweater is such a classic staple for any closet during the fall/winter seasons and this crewneck sweater in extra soft yarn looks not only lovely, but also very soft and cozy too. This sweater also comes in a variety of colors too.
With the holiday season comes the chance to entertain friends and family at our homes and this beautiful Tiered Marble and Brass Serving Stand in Warm Beige is a great piece that can be used so many different ways, even after the holidays.
And don’t worry, I didn’t let that beautiful serving tray and the 3pc Brass Cheese Knives with Marble Handles escape my attention from the previous picture. Both of which are only $19.99 each. That is such a great price for marble anything.
If you are in need of a large bag for either travel, work, or running errands, then this woven structured weekender bag from Anthropologie would be a beautiful bag to invest in. At only $138 for this item, it is actually at a good price point too for a bag of this size and style.
Banana Republic recently came out with a few pieces of jewelry that caught my eye. I am really loving their mermaid line with those beautiful colors of green placed throughout each piece. These Mermaid Teardrop Drop Earrings and the Mermaid Teardrop Crystal Ring would be beautiful investment pieces, but still aren’t even that bad at $80.00 for the ring and $60.00 for the earrings.
Caleigh Courey has released her new 2025 Fine Art Calendar for purchase, and I have already placed my order. I love to use this beautiful calendar at work as not only a traditional calendar, but also as a piece of beautiful artwork for my cubicle as well. The Fine Art Wall Calendar features prints of twelve original paintings that can be cut out and framed after each month has passed as well. Printed on a smooth, heavy, natural white paper, and bound by a small removable brass clip, this calendar is worth its price tag for the beautiful artwork alone.
For all of my Nespresso drinkers out there (including me), they now have their holiday flavor of gingerbread out for the season, and they also recently brought back their sunny almond vanilla flavor iced coffee. The iced coffee in particular is by far my favorite and I will be ordering many of these this week.
A new book released just this past Tuesday, The Power and the Glory: Life in the English Country House Before the Great War looks to be a great read, especially for the Anglophiles. In The Power and the Glory, historian Adrian Tinniswood reconstructs life in the country house during its golden age before the Great War, when Britain ruled over a quarter of the earth’s population and its stately homes were at their most opulent. But change was on the horizon: the landed classes were being forced to grapple not only with new neighbors, but also with new social norms and expectations. An exuberant story, The Power and the Glory offers a delicious, captivating, and often scandalous history of the British country house.
Another Anglophile book recently released is Family Romance: John Singer Sargent and the Wertheimers. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there was no greater art flex for the superrich than to sit for a portrait by John Singer Sargent. No one understood this better than British art dealer Asher Wertheimer, who commissioned 12 works from the painter, his largest private commission. This new book not only delves into the close friendship that developed between Sargent and the Wertheimer family, but also explores the greater cultural and historical context behind these works, from the decline of the British aristocracy at the turn of the 20th century, to the rise of fascism in the ’30s, to the birth of the modern art market.
If you’re looking to cozy up to a mystery novel, then The Estate: A Novel will make a great addition to your TBR list. In Sarah Jost’s The Estate, Camille is an art historian who can enter the world of any piece of artwork. She’s used her magical talent to build a career specializing in 19th-century sculptor Constance Sorel; when a lost piece of Sorel’s is discovered, however, she is immediately suspicious it’s a fake. Her proclamation makes her lose her job, and finds her in the path of Maxime Foucault, an enigmatic aristocrat who invites her to a grand chateau.
Another beautiful novel being released on November 26th is City of Night Birds: A Novel. Juhea Kim’s sophomore novel enters the world of contemporary Russian ballet—”where cutthroat ambition, ever-shifting politics, and sublime artistry collide,” per the publisher—following former prima ballerina Natalia Leonova, attempting a comeback in St. Petersburg. It’s a mesmerizing page-turner—and exactly the type of book we want to get lost in this November.
All of my Bridget Jones fans get excited! We are finally getting a new chapter of Bridget Jones coming this February and it looks just as cozy and fun as all the others before it. Sadly, this one will not be released in theaters to enjoy, but it will be available on Peacock to stream. Just gives us reason to cozy in at home for a fun move night in. Watch the new trailer below.
After the brutal floods that ravaged Asheville back in September, it inspires hope that The Biltmore will be open for their holiday celebrations this year. Here is a peek inside of the beautiful estate for Christmas. I have gone once during their Christmas at Biltmore, and I hope to do so again within the next year or two as it truly is so magical to experience.
