Every year in March at the North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) here in Raleigh there’s an event called Art in Bloom. Last year I was not able to attend because we were in New York, but this year I was able to visit this past Saturday to enjoy this year’s exhibit. Art in Bloom is an event that features the stunning creativity of floral designers from across the state and beyond who interpret works of art in the main museum as well as the outdoor art features too to create their designs.
I really missed this annual event while I was living in Florida, so I was very excited to be able to attend again this year.
As mentioned above, the floral designs are inspired by the artwork within the museum. The florists did a great job with the color and arrangements to really represent their respective artworks. Below you will see some of the floral displays next to the artwork that it was inspired by.
There were also many lovely displays of flowers throughout the museum as well. There was a lot of floral arranging inspiration around every corner.
And then there were some real show stoppers that were simply stunning too.
There was even a floral arrangement inspired by the lobby.
The spring season was also very well represented in the floral designs too.
There were small flower displays all throughout the museum to enjoy even outside of the main artwork.
And of course no museum visit is complete without a stop at the gift shop.
After the visit I stopped by the museum cafe and got an iced latte and white chocolate lavender scone. The sun was shining and the wether was so nice that I went outside to enjoy a nibble with my book for a little while. And even though the main art in bloom took place inside of the museum, there were also many lovely displays outside of the museum as well.
Inspired by their iconic three-ring art display called Gyre in the main park as seen below.
After relaxing for awhile I took a walk around to the back of the museum where they also had their bonsai tree display. It was fun to visit all of the cute little trees and also, I didn’t know that bonsai trees could have flowers on them.
And art wasn’t only blooming inside the museum as there were plenty of trees outside in the park that were also showing off their colors as well.
Overall it was a lovely day getting to visit so many beautiful flowers and just another great start to the spring season. Flowers will always hold a special place in my heart and in my life and to be able to visit an exhibit all about flowers was simply an exquisite experience to savor.
