Welcome to the first Curated Weekly. A weekly post of things that have piqued my interest and may pique yours as well. In the same fashion of The Simply Luxurious Life’s This & That or The Every Parisian’s Links I Love, mine will also be a mix of articles, movies, television, shopping, culture, food, and many other subjects to peruse. I always love tuning into these types of posts, so why not create one of my own? I hope you enjoy the Curated Weekly and will tune in each and every Friday when they’re published.
I will have been in the mountains this past week which will be in the high 60’s for the daily temperature. Luckily, I can bring this J. Crew cashmere/wool blend poncho wrap that I bought when I went to England last fall. It was perfect for international travel as I wore it while flying to keep me both warm and cozy while on a long flight. The picture below was after an 8-hour flight to London, and I was still feeling cozy and not feeling like I needed to change after arriving. This item is still sold online and offers many colors to choose from.
Making a return back to Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina is the Chihuly Exhibit. The first exhibit happened back in 2018 and I was not able to go, but the new exhibit is going on now through January 5th and I will be getting my ticket to go in June.
And finally, the return of a long-awaited season for Bridgerton. It’s the story of Penelope and Colin’s friends-to-lover romance that will unfold with the upcoming season of this beloved period drama. Between the story lines, fashion, and of course the Regency aesthetic, I will be tuning in to the first four episodes that were released on May 16th. Take a look at the trailer below.
An upcoming book release on May 21st, Once Upon A Time by Elizabeth Beller will for sure make it on my to-be-read list this month. A book that explores the life of late Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy as a fiercely independent woman devoted to her career and who had an impeccable eye for style and good taste. She was also married to John F. Kennedy Jr. who was immediately drawn to her strong-willed personality, effortless charm and high intelligence. This should be a comprehensive biography into this multi-faceted woman who grabbed our attention and whose life was cut tragically short.
The new trailer is now available for It Ends With Us. Being released on August 9th, it is based on the novel that took the book world by storm, so it is sure to be a summer blockbuster. Will you be watching it this summer?
Parisian Vibe released a video recently on YouTube – At Home in the French Countryside: The Elegant and Bright House of a Creative Family Near Paris. Owned by Alice and Antoine (Maison Saman founders), the video is full of beautiful decor ideas and style. Alice delves into transforming an old family house into a living space full of creativity and art. Take a look for design ideas and inspiration.
I am looking for a midi dress or two for the summer and this polka dot one from Loft and floral print one from GAP are on my short list.
I am also looking to invest in a quality umbrella as of recently. I found this Signature Tartan Stick Umbrella on Brooks Brothers website that I love as it reminds me of the English countryside. I will be watching for any upcoming sales like Memorial Day to see if they will offer a discount.
For my Nespresso lovers, Nespresso just released a new flavor for summer for iced lattes. Aptly called Sunny Almond Vanilla Flavor Over Ice, it’s described as a refreshing, thirst-quenching iced coffee with delicious almond and vanilla flavored notes, reminiscent of amaretti and vanilla custard. Sadly this is only offered for the Vertuo models of Nespresso, so I may have to get one to try out this lovely sounding flavor.
It was a short work week for me as we will be leaving for a mini trip to the North Carolina mountains for a spring getaway in Blowing Rock. We’ll be using this time to relax, enjoy nature, and visit a new little quaint mountain town.
To start your weekend, here are some online articles of interest.
Apropos to my little mini-getaway, Camille Styles recently talked about How to Cook Dinner Like a French Girl on Holiday.
Bon Appétit is delving into What’s Next for the Michelin Guide? Providing a brief history of the Michelin Guide, the author also interviews the guide’s international director and discusses the challenges of maintaining inspector anonymity in the age of social media, the rationale for partnering with local tourism boards, and more.
Town & Country Magazine covers the surprising return of Onion Dip. Once considered an old-fashioned appetizer that left the food menus many years ago, it is now making a resurgence on the Manhattan food scene and being elevated by being topped with caviar or edible flowers and is currently a hit at some of New York’s best restaurants.
An article on the Chihuly Exhibit released last month giving some background on the artist as well as what to expect at the Biltmore opening.
An inspiring article over on The EveryGirl – 7 Productivity Habits Successful Women Practice.
A beautiful craftsman-style house in Los Angles at Elle Decor has me dreaming about buying another house just to give it the same colorful and cozy update.
When this publishes on Friday it will be our departing day from the mountains. We will enjoy one last breakfast in town, maybe do another walk around and then make our way home. Next week posts will be all about my trip to Blowing Rock including a travel diary of pictures and what I packed for the trip, so be sure to look out for those coming up.
Have a lovely weekend ahead and be sure to get outside to enjoy the beautiful spring days (or autumn days for our southern hemisphere readers).
Ooh, I love this post. There is so much to explore. I just finished the Bridgerton newly released episodes and it’s my favorite season so far.
I’m so happy that you enjoyed this week’s Curated post 🙂 I will be watching Bridgerton this upcoming week while my husband is traveling for work and from the looks of it I am predicting that it may be my favorite season as well.
